BELONGING

Greenway

42°22'30.0"N

Belonging never presumed here - always earned.

Mary Ellen Welch was a community leader who fought to ensure East Boston residents were protected and heard as Massport expanded Logan International Airport around them.

Through sustained organizing, she and her neighbors pushed for real mitigation. One result is this Greenway: a 3.1-mile, continuous public corridor built on a former abandoned rail line that had become unsafe and neglected, creating shared space where none existed before.

This place exists because residents demanded it.

Belonging here has been asserted, not assumed.
